I think I need to have a rather large mole on my neck sent for a biopsy and I don’t have any insurance. I have a referal from my primary but I’ve heard that not only is it difficult to get an appt with a non-emergency request, but alos that a lot of physicians simply won't see someone without any insurance.
Answer:
Sure, you can make an appt with a dermatologist without insurance.
Of course, you should expect them to ask how you’re going to pay….
Answer:
You can be seen without insurance, but you'll have to pay the bill in full after your appointment, unless you make payment arrangements with the clinic beforehand. Some will do that and some won't. You shouldn't have any trouble getting an appointment, especially with a referral.
Answer:
Offer to pay cash in advance. That gets their attention.
