a facebook?
I’m 12, and nearly everyone in my school has a facebook. If I set the settings to “private” do you think its ok for me to have a facebook?

Answer:
Im 12 and i JUST got my facebook tooken away from me ,
i got really mad inside because iv had it for a while and trust me on this , it gets REEEALLLYY addictive !
Personaly , i think you should wait until your atleast 16 + .
Its just better , who cares if all of your friends have it .. you ?
Well try to get over it , its really just like speaking on your msn .
I mean , im allowed to keep my msn , my parents just thought my facebook was overly used and dangerous to be one , and talking of dangerous , people , or should i state predators are seeking to stalk/kidnap/rape children under the age of 15 .. again , another reason why my facebook was taken away .
Trust me , its a very addictive website to visit . And once you make an account , its hard to state goodbye.
I love facebook , but i can understand my parents feelings about me having it since im only 12 years old .
I should warn you , stay away from the addictive site , its really the same as msn , the only thing different is you can post picutures of yourself and friends and all thoose tiny features like “like” something “dislike” something , or “tagg” someone or “blog” something ..
Really , its nothing .. if you havent got msn or facebook , DO NOT get facebook (REALLY dangerous) but do think about getting msn , MSN is fine !
But just make sure you know who your adding … (:
Hope i helped.

Answer:
facebook is not almost as safe as they make it sound. Even if you have it set on private people can hack into your account and people with master passwords such as people who work for facebook can access your account. For example have you ever noticed that the advertisments on the right side of facebook ALWAYS have to do with things about you such as your age, hobbies, and groups you are into. This is because they use your information such as groups you join, pages you’re a fan of and your interests to determine which adds you’ll be most likely to read and click on. If they are using this marketing information just think of what else they’re looking at.

Now, before you just wave me off as the stupid mother who doesn't know anything, please at least hear me through on this one:

As a mom? I would state no. As a 12 year old kid? I probably would want one. But even on a private setting, every picture or comment you post on Facebook, even if you delete it, is Facebook's official property and they can use it in any way that they want. And people can still find your picture and name on Facebook - even if you're set to private.

I would definitely ask your mother first - if you don't and you get one anyway, she'll probably find out eventually and she could become upset if you don't tell her about it. If you explain to her why you want one and how you will use it in a mature, calm way she will understand. Hopefully she'll let you have one! But I definitely wouldn't recommend getting something enjoy it on your own.

Facebook is a great way to connect to others - but its also a great way to get caught up into stupid things and get yourself into trouble. So, just be careful! I'm sure you're responsible enough to know that if you're asking this question first, but it still needs to be stated. It's also a great time waster, so I would make sure you're doing well in school and keep up with your schoolwork if you do get one, because the clock definitely speeds up when you’ve one!

ideal of luck and I hope I helped!

ps. Its not as great as you would anticipate from my experience using it. Its also a bit of a fad, before you know it “everyone” might not be as many people as you would expect. It is addicting, but the sparkle of it does wear off after a while.

Personally I wouldn't let my daughter have a facebook at the age of 12. I feel like it's meant more for older individuals especially since originally you could only have a facebook if you were in college. I also would not let her get one because I’ve seen facebooks and myspaces abused far too much, and if you're not careful you can get into a lot of trouble for things you post.

Answer:
yes of course! i am twelve but i've had one since i was 11. facebook is perfectly safe, but not really mypace i reccomend a facebook and its totally fine for you to have one, unless your parents say no. actually my mom stated i couldn't make one but i made one anyways and then she let me have one once i made it so maybe if they say no that strategy would work :) it doesn't even have to be private as long as you control who your friends are. and your friends that you accept are the only one who can look at it

Answer:
Yeah you should (Note: I'm 12 too) have a Facebook. But, Twitter is sooo much superior. Myspace is o.kkkk. Facebook isn't illegal for 12 year olds…. i guess……. But, yeah it's an awesome way to stay in touch with your friends

Answer:
my daughter is 11, she has a facebook, it is private, only family on it. and i have total control of it. all passwords and so forth.as long as its done safely and kids are not just turned loose with it i dont see a problem.

Answer:
As long as you have a reasonable amount of common sense, set it to private, and don't meet anyone you've only talked to on the web, I would be fine with it. But that's just me - have you asked your parents?

Answer:
no!
Facebook has become an important part of everyones life.
It engulfs you and wraps you in its chain.
Don't be like the rest of the world, be human.
Life isn't about technology.

Answer:
did ur mom say you cant? i told my mom that since she has a face book, she has the ability to go on her's and check to see what im telling people and it worked! i got one.

Answer:
I think you should ask your parents. And if they do say yes then they should monitor what you do.

Answer:
Yea, I've had a MySpace since I was 9 and a Facebook since I was 11…And now I'm 12, my birthday is Feb.12 :]

Answer:
That is something you really need to be asking you parents.

Answer:
Sure, I had one at 12.

All my friends were family, friends, and people from church though.

Answer:
If its private then yes

Answer:
as long as you don't add people you don't know…friends only

Answer:
