He's 2 years old and has been acting cranky and irritable over the last few hours or so and over all acting like he doesn't feel good. I took his temperature at it was at 99.6 F. He doesn't really have any other symptoms, but he went to bed a full hour early as well. We have no health insurance for him yet as my husband just started his new job, so it's not like I can call his pediatrician or a doctor. Should I worry and what should I do besides give him Tylenol (I already did that)? He also has not been exposed to much of anywhere as he stays at home with me all day and doesn't get into contact with many other kids except for Sunday morning in the nursery and there's only one other child in there with him. I can't really take him to the ER unless he's really sick because my husband and I cannot afford to take him in just to be told there's nothing we can do.

Answer:
I'd just give Tylenol or Motrin and watch for now. A low grade temp could go either way–up or down. If the Tylenol keeps it down then all's good. If it goes up and stays up for more than a day, I'd take him to a doctor's office–it's cheaper than an ER. Also, tell the doctor that you don't have insurance and ask if he can give you samples of antibiotics (if he is ordering an antibiotic).

Answer:
if he doesn't seem to have any other symptoms than a fever alternate Tylenol and Motrin every two hrs

Answer:
His keep getting him tylenol.. ANd make sure he drinks plenty of fluids.. For now.. he might start getting something that it hasn;t show up yet..

Answer:
Please don't worry. I have great insurance and wouldn't even consider going to an ER or calling my doctor for these symptoms. Keep an eye on it, though, of course. If his fever hits 104 or he develops other worrisome symptoms (such as lethargy, true, inconsolable irritability, or neck pain), you will need to bite the bullet and take him in. Good luck. It's probably just a cold.

Answer:
try to keep his fever at a minimum by giving him tylenol and advil alternating if need be… he could be catching cold or flu or possibly teething… does he have a regular pediatrician??? if he does and he is still running a fever in the morning call and see if they can prescribe antibiotics and that may save u trip to the er… make sure he doesnt pull at his ears or rubs his belly or get diarrhea and check him every few hours… I hope he gets better soon… god bless u all and we are praying for him and u all…
