Isn't it great that Obama had a great mom that spent countless hours and mornings with her son? Just imagine if more parents had this much dedication to their kids? I wish my parents could have done this for me I would be much happier and superior educated.

How much time are you willing to spend with your children on English and other major subjects?

Answer:
As a parent you should be willing to spend time with them no matter what the subject. if my child needed the help, and not just using me to do his homework, then i would be there for him no matter the time frame.

however not each parent is well educated like his mom may have been, so not every parent should be compared to her, other parents may be better at sports and help their child be the next famous football player, to each there own, but the time should be offered if possible. NO ONE BUT THE PARENT IS SUPPOSE TO BE RAISING THEIR CHILD. not even the tv or the video games. we need less lazy parents and more involved ones.

I wish my dad had of been more of reader when I was younger and I know its because he was so young himself and did not have the proper guidance.

Now that I’ve my own (although I am young) I made it my mission to be active in reading with my children almost every night. I love doing homework with my son who just started school and I have so much fun reading and writing with him. English was certainly my ideal subject so I have fun helping the older boys with their highschool homeowork, whenever they need it. I realise the important of reading with your children now more than ever and its astonishing how fast they learn once you make it a habit. I am willing to spend as much time as needed with my children on any kind of homework or major studies.

Answer:
It is great when mothers or dads can put that much dedication towards their childrens education. But a lot of parents cannot because of this tiny thing called work.

If I’ve the chance when my children are older I will most definately be very dedicated in their school work. I’ll be willing to spend as much time as needed in the subjects my child is having problems in.

Answer:
My mom died when I was ten

She was sick for 2 years

She was a mom of five

The youngest was 4 when she got sick, the oldest 10

She did not have 3 hours to spend with each child

My mom did teach us things like

For the grace of god go me

Treat people with respect, and respect is given

When bad things happen, deal with them

So, no, I think my mother did the ideal she could with the shorten time she got with her five kids

Answer:
I'm an at home mom, who has read to my children since I found out I was pregnant with them. Once born, we read anything and everything. From textbooks, to newspapers, to the dictionary, to world maps, to kids books, novels, you name it.

It does make a large difference. My daughter at age 3 was assessed by the elementary school she’s zoned for. Turns out she at that time was at a 2nd grade comprehension level….with over 3000 word vocab.

More people should do the same. I've been home with my children from day one…..so I have the time to spend hours on end reading and teaching them. I'm sure they will appreciate that later in life, when they aren't struggling in their studies. Whats horrible is that so few do the same, and school standards are so low. That makes it hard for people like me, because my kids will have to be moved ahead so much…..just to be learning something new. What good is putting a child in Kindergarten at going on 7 years old(because of when her birthday is)…when at 3 years old she had a 2nd grade comprehension level….you know!

As for # of hours, at least 3-4 a day combined between my husband and I. Worth every second of it too.

Answer:
My kids are homeschooled. I teach them all of their lessons, and when they have outside classes (through a community organization or homeschool coop, etc.) I am there as well.

We don’t have a “time” for lessons, i.e. math between 10 and 10:45. We start math, and we do not stop until that lesson is completed including an acceptable level of comprehension. I spend as much time as necessary.

Answer:
My 14 year old is special needs, 3 hours in and we're usually just getting started..

My 12 year old comes to me when she needs help, unless it's with math, then she goes to her dad.

Education is priceless, I'm willing to spend as much time as necessary.

Answer:
Dude, you’re obviously an Obama fan…could you’ve just left politics out of this question. The last part would have been adequate.

I spend as much as is necesary to help my child be a good student.

Answer:
He is going to work hard to improve education because he knows how it changed his life.
