My infant daughter has been diagnosed with a form of torticollis that is very very mild and a couple friends recommended taking her to a chiropractor to see if they can help with her neck muscles. I took her today and the physician was very kind and has 40 years experience as well as being the son of a chiropractor and his two brothers are in practice with him. He seems to think he can help her some which makes me happy. He did an adjustment on her today and she seems happier and more limber in her neck muscles. Anyhow, would you (if in my shoes) keep taking her to see the chiropractor seeing that it seems to help?

Answer:
I am so glad you asked this question. My daughter has just been diagnosed with the same, and I've been wondering if we should start at the chiropractor, since PT would take 6 or more weeks to get into. Sorry to be of no help, but I’m seriously considering the same thing. Friends of ours brought their son in (he was under 1 year too), for an adjustment and he did just fine (however, he didn't have torticollis at the time). My girl was a C-section, so no strain from birthing, just from GERD and such. I'll watch and wait with you!

Answer:
A Chiropractor can be helpful…at least initially. But sometimes they insist on appointment after appointment with them and don't admit when physical therapy should be the next step. That happen to me with a back issue…….I finally took the initiative myself for physical therapy where I was given various treatments and exercises to eliminate my problem.

Check with your daughters medical physician to get an view.

My son was diagnosed the same exact thing. He couldn't turn his head to one side because of the neck muscles. I’ve been taking him to the chiropractor since he was 2 weeks old and he is two in september. He can turn his neck now and he just seems also not to be as fussy as other kids/babies, it also helps them a lot with not getting sick as much. I would keep taking her. It does wonders. Hope this helped. Good luck with everything hope it gets better!

Answer:
Yep I would. My parents took me when I was little and it still helps to this day, I think we went each other week just for adjustments and now I dont have to go anymore b/c I have the ability to turn a certain way and adjust myself. It's not like he's some nut off they street he's a trained Dr. I'd keep it up if I were you.

Answer:
I would totally continue taking her. After I’ve my baby we’re both going to the chiropractor to get adjusted. It can help with so many things, and if she showed signs of being more comfortable I would continue it.

Answer:
If it works why not?!?! I would do it, and I’ve taken my daughter in for a adjustment when she was 6 months old. It was a lil different tho, we were in a little car accident and he worked wonders on her ;)

Ideal of luck to you!

Answer:
I completely support using a chiropractor. They work miracles/

Answer:
a couple of more times would be adequate. After that you'll just be wasting your time and money.

Answer:
I dont see why you wouldnt take her! If it helps and you can afford it, I would definitely do what helps my baby!!

Good luck!!

Answer:
Are you crazy?? He is not a medical physician he has no degree in medicine. You should not go to the chiropractor instead see a physical therapist or an orthopedist and also ask your primary care doctor what he thinks of you taking your infant to a chiro first. Trust me he wont think highly of the Chiropractor.

Most Chiropractors are crooks. Here is the truth about what they do. A chiropractor can do spinal manipulations to relieve stress on spinal nerves caused by things like muscle tension or a slight misalignment of the discs. The manipulation is not a permanent change of anything though, and no - they can't permanently change the natural shape or curvature of a spine. An orthopedist can evaluate the situation and determine if a scoliosis is actually present, and if a brace would be of help. A brace has to be individually fitted though- it's not a one size fits all proposition. A chiropractor can be helpful in musculo-skeletal aches and pains, through manipulation and massage- but aside from that it's all smoke and mirrors. If you’ve back pain from the misalignment, they have the ability to help relieve that. But nothing they do is going to be a permanent fix. Spines don't work that way. To change a spine takes surgery and braces. Most chiropractors are quacks and want to take a full body X-ray and have you going to them for a very long time. In my opinion they’re a tiny better then a back rub, but to each his/her own
