I read in my employee manual that pregnant employess should let their boss know by the end of the 4th month. is that a general rule that people follow? or do most people tell their bosses earlier than that?
Answer:
I told my boss about 8 weeks because I’ve a high stress job and I didn't want to lose my baby since I was also high risk. My boss understood and took it a tiny easier on me. I still worked the same amount of hours and had the same number of jobs, but he avoided giving me emergency project which required 24/7 attention. I didnt' tell everyone else at my company until 12 to 14 weeks though to make sure I didn't miscarry. If something had happen to me, I didn't want everyone to say sorry or anything. Good luck.

depends how comfortable you’re with your employer… I told mine at the end of the 4th month because I had just started my job!! but if I had been at my old job, I would'ev probably told my boss right away, it's up to you… but they like having earlier than later notice

I think it depends on your relationship to your boss and the size of the company. I work at a front desk, so I needed to make sure my team members and boss knew because they'd have to fill in for me if I had to be away from the desk for a while. So I told them VERY early on… around 5 weeks or so.

I told mine the day after i found out incase he tried to make me do heavy lifting or any work that could harm the baby, and then if anything goes wrong whether it be morning sickness or god forbid miscarriage they will know and be more sympathetic to your situation

depends on what your job is. if its a job that dont involve much lifting then yeh thats the usual rule but if its a job with a lot of lifting then tell him as soon as you can good luck x

I didnt tell my boss until i was 23 weeks.. I had gained some weight but no noticeable baby bump thats why i hid it for so long.. and also because i was scared, they dont handle pregnancies very well. goodluck
