so I'm pregnant, possibly 5-7 weeks .. I haven't been to any physicians yet, because the prices are crazy .. well for me at least, I’ve insurance and I'm a patient at this one OB/GYN and I asked the fees for just an ultrasound [$400!!!], anyways I won't be able to see a doctor until I apply for medicaid and it goes through .. so about 2 weeks .. what I wanna know is .. is this okay? I'll just go to Wal-Mart and purchase some prenatal vitamins .. I don't wanna cause my baby any harm or anything, because I haven't been to a physician yet .. will I be okay just taking pills and waiting ?????????

Answer:
That's what I did.
I found out iwas pregnant about week 6… applied for mediacaid (that can take up to 30 days from the day you apply) got approved when I was nearly 10 weeks and had my first physicians appointment at nearly 11 weeks.
I took one a day prenatal vitamins which I purchased at walmart until I saw my doctor and got a prescription.
Good luck to you and congrats!

Answer:
Yes, as long as you take the over-the-counter prenatal vitamins until you can get an appointment, drop any serious bad habits you might have (i.e. smoking, drinking), and start a healthy diet, it will be fine. But do get that application started right away so you can get your appt. In some areas it can take a month to get one through medicaid.

i am 13 weeks pregnant and haven't went in yet. I take my prenatal vitamins everyday, and have my first appointment scheduled for the 1st.. which i might have to move back because my state insurance hasn't went through yet. I talked to the physician and he stated it's fine to wait a bit longer as long as everything is going okay, and i've quit all bad habits.

I still think it's crazy that americans have to pay to see a physician…you could always come up here to canada and get it done for free :) I know that's probably not possible for you…I would immediately start taking prenatal vitamins and folic acid, also eat a well balanced diet and take care of yourself!

Answer:
Normally when you apply for Medicaid, they back pay for 3 months.. I don't know if it works like this in your say, but it has worked for me. So, please do get to a doctor and don't worry about the cost. Your baby's health is much more important!

Answer:
yeah hun you’ll be fine… and even if you do go and see the physician when you get the medicad it goes back like 4 months so they will pay for those doctor bills as well. i had to apply for medicad and it paid my bills from my past due months. so don't worry about that… GOOD LUCK!

Answer:
I went to wal mart and purchased prenatal vitamins as well. It's worked out great for me,I took those for a while before I got my prescription ones, and my son is 15 oz when I'm only 21 weeks pregnant.

Answer:
you could even go to your local clinic/ dept. of health and they’ll give you some there, but they'll probably give a pregnancy test just to be sure..

good luck!!!!

Answer:
I would say taking prenatals will do nothing wrong to your baby! Make an appointment now to see the dr. so that when you get approved you can go right away! Do drop bad habits & stay as health as possible! Good luck

Answer:
YA isn't a clinic. Don't take advise from people here unless you’re 100% sure they have a medical degree.

When I found out I was pregnant I had to find a high risk physician that I wanted to go to. So in the mean time, my mom who is a labor and delivery nurse and dad who is a physician, told me to take folic acid pills and prenatal. I took folic acid till and prenatal till I was 12 weeks then I just took my prenatals. I bought mine at Wal-Mart too. Finally when I saw my OB for the first time, I talked to him about how sick my prenatal vitamins make me. He stated to just try many different brands. They all have “filler vitamins” in them and some have different fillers and depending on the fillers some can make ya sick and some can be just fine. He told me to try the Women's One a day prenatal, the Dr. Green's, the plain Jane Wal-mart brand, and if those didn’t sit well with me go to GNC and try theirs. If I still was feeling sick, then tell him and he would prescribe me some! Anyway, do not worry and good luck! :)

Answer:
i live in texas and i went to the er at 7 weeks because i was worried something was wrong, baby was fine and they gave me a list of free clinics i called one of them and its called community wellness clinic and they did all the medicaid paperwork for me and i got to see there doctor the same day and had an ultrasound and bloodwork done there and it didnt cost me a penny.

. i have been going to that clinic since 7 weeks and i am now 16 weeks. i didnt have to wait to see a doctor until the medicaid kicked in they seen me right away!!! i didnt have to stand in line at the medicaid office either! it took them 30 days to mail me my letter but my doctor doesnt even ask for it, so it didnt matter how long it took becuase once it went through it showed up in my physicians computer, she knew i was excepted before i got the letter.

so i would state deffenetly try that first.

good luck
