I have been babysitting a little girl for a year now. She was 3 when she came to me, and was not potty trained. I worked with her for about 6 months and finally got her to "pee-pee" in the potty. Now she is 4 and still refuses to "poopie" in the potty! I have tried everything (time-outs, talks, reward charts, stickers, treats) and nothing is working. I will sit her on the potty, sometimes for an hour at a time, and the second she gets off, she poops her panties. I am really at my whits end here!!! Any suggestions would be greaty appreciated before I have to call it quits with her.

Answer:
Potty training takes time and lots of patience. Usually positive reinforcement, and a rewards system works best. Never punishing for accidents. All in all, they will pretty much be potty trained when they are ready.

I have been having the same problem with a little boy that I have been watching since he was 1. BTW he turned 4 in october….still not potty trained. I have tried everything too! I don't know what to do and the parents are no help. They have tried letting him sit there for hours, rewards, time outs, only praising him when he does well nothing for when he wet/poops his pants…i could go on and on. So, if you get any good advice please pass it my way because ???? I am probably going to loose it soon! lol

Answer:
I think the parents are the ones that need to be taking care of this, not you. You should be there to support them in the effort to get her potty trained not do it for them.

Answer:
they say 15 to 20 minutes after a child eats they should be taken to the potty if you are potty training.some children just aren't ready yet.also if you are potty training her while you are babysitting that doesn't actually mean that she is being potty trained when she is at home.if the things you are trying to teach a child are not consistent than with lots of kids it wont work.dint give up she will come around eventually.
