When I was 14 I was sent to a wilderness treatment camp,keep in my mind that I was NOT court ordered or in any trouble with law. Upon arriving to the center I was ordered into a small 5×5 room, about five minutes later male staff greated me and shortly explained that I would be stripped searched. After taking off everything but my underwear I turned away from the staff member searching and covered my penis (as I am uncircumcised and very embarrassed at the time about that) at which time they both started to yell at me to turn around and then yelled for me to drop my hands to my sides. After this I was ordered to put my hands up and spread my legs shoulder width apart. It started by them checking my hair, opening my mouth, under arms, etc. Then one staff memeber asked me if I was circumcised I said no he told me to push my foreskin back of which he made me hold it for a couple seconds. Then he’d me lift my scrotum, turn around, bend over legs wide apart spread my butt cheeks cough

I'm not sure what type of camp this is,but I know in camps where teens are in trouble with the law they do searches like this.
I went to one for females for 3 days when I was not going to school.It was court ordered.They check all areas in your body to make sure you are not smuggling drugs,weapons,or anything else in the camp that isn't suppose to be there.Just like prison.
So depending what “type” of camp this way depends whether this search was necessary.

That’s way out of line. Did they do that to anyone else? I'm pretty sure it's illegal for them to do that especially with no specific reasoning. That’s usually only done if police give consent to do so and if the person is a suspect for a crime or something like that.

it would have been abusive if they’d teased or taunted you or touched your genitals in any way.

That sounds like the usual, strip searches are supposed to be thorough. Why send you to a camp like that if it wasn't court ordered? Expose a basically good kid to really bad ones, great idea!

Honestly, I don't think so. That sounds like a routine strip search to me. They do that to everyone leaving the camp, not just you. I know you were humiliated, but I don't see in wrong doing.

wow! that is horrible. they could have been checking to see if you brought anything in there that wasnt supposed to be there. i mean if it was like a drug rehab situation than that’s probably why they did that
